Learn About Water
Water supply management is not simply about finding technical solutions to the challenges we face but also about encouraging changes in attitudes and behaviours. All water suppliers recognise education as an important part of water supply management and have education officers and programs.
Through education programs and teaching resources Rous Water provides opportunities for learners of all ages to increase their awareness about the value of water, where the water comes from, how to use it wisely and care for the catchment.
The desired outcome from educational programs and resources is behavioral change, which will result in a reduction in water consumption and healthier water catchments. But to embrace change our community must be given opportunities that enhance their interest, values and knowledge and develop their skills. This will build the capacity of the people in our area to be informed and become active participants in sustainable water management.
Rous Water has a full–time Community Education Officer to plan and deliver water education programs. These are either formal or informal programs and cover all four levels of education plus learners of all ages in the wider community. Teachers, educators and community groups are encouraged to contact Rous Water to book the programs or ask about involvement in, or support for, any other possible educational opportunities.
